Pizza! Pizza!

Homemade Pizza is one of my all time favourite dishes and I love that I can currently find all of the ingredients at the farmers’ market. Making the sauce with fresh tomatos, red onions and organic garlic from the market and using our own basil and rosemary from the terrace is much better than anything you can find canned or shipped in from thousends miles afar.

Some tipps for the best pizza:

-Use high quality extra virgin olive oil. 
-Always make the pizza dough yourself.
-Try buffalo mozzarella! Trust me, it's worht the extra money.
-Finish with a touch of rucola on your slice.

Waiting for Cate Blanchett


I can't wait to see Cate Blanchett on stage tomorrow!  Her Sydney Theatre Company is here in Vienna in the course of the Wiener Festwochen and will take a fresh, international look at Botho Strauss' masterpiece "Big and Small". 
The press reviews I read until now are all very good, all eleven performances are sold out and my expectations are- of course- pretty high now! I'm totally excited!

Bold A-Line Dress

With a good A-line dress no matter the season, the day or the year it will always make you feel fashionable and well put together. At least that's what it does to me!

It works everytime I don't know what to wear and in all kinds of weather.  A few bold (orange!) accessoires and and a good pair of shoes and you can conquer the world in style!  So be sure to have them in your closet in all kinds of colours from black (totally classy) to white (summer is just around the corner) or patterned all over!

Geneva



Our short trip to Switzerland and France was wonderful! We were there for four days and permanently crossed the boardes between these countries because the friend we where visiting lives in France, but works in Switzerland. A lot of people who work here for just a few years (he is finishing his PhD at CERN) are doing this because renting a house is much cheaper in France than on the other side of the boarder. Even if the two places are just a couple of bus and tram stops away!

We walked the streets of Geneva for hours, went up all the stairs to the top of the Cathedrale Saint Pierre from where we had an amazing view of the city. We enjoyed the cool breeze from the Lake Geneva and also found some nice places to eat and - of course- have the best dessert!

All This Beauty!

For me, the MET Gala is one the biggest fashion extravaganzas of the year! The annual Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art is the place where movie stars and all the big names of the fashion industry are dressed up to the nines. Amazing gowns, magnificent jewellery & the talented Florence Welch was singing. It must have been a perfect night!

New on my Wishlist

In celebration of the 175th anniversary of Tiffany a new metal called "Rubedo" was introduced. Actually Rubedo is not a metal and long articles were written about that but the pinkish mixture of gold, silver and copper caught my eye immediately. The cuff is inscribed with the signature of Charles Lewis Tiffany, founder of Tiffany & Co. And as I am a big fan of cuffs and this beauty is also a limited edition and only available in 2012 I better hurry to get me one!

Home Made Gnocchi with Rucola and Tomatosauce

If I am feeling like I need a little holiday between two work days I love to cook italian food. A few days ago we had some nice home made gnocchi with a perfect sauce. I don't give excact cooking instructions because we also made it freestyle. 


Cut the tomatos in pieces, gently roast the onion and the garlic (both finely chopped) in a saucepan, put the tomatos in too, mash them, put in thyme, salt and pepper and heat to a gentle simmer. 
The gnocchi are quite easy as well. Mix the ingredients to get a dough. Roll it. Cut it into little pieces. Best if you cook the gnocchi in batches by dropping them into boiling water. They will let you know when they are cooked because they pop back up to the top. Fish the poped up ones out of the water with a slotted spoon. Keep a plate ready to put them on. Best if the plate is preheated.


{For the sauce you need 1kg tomatos, 1 onion, 4 garlic cloves, good olive oil, fresh thyme, salt & pepper}
 

{For the gnocchi you need 1 kg tender cooked & mashed potatoes, 2 eggs, salt, 200g flour & keep rollin', rollin', rollin'}
 
{Serves 4 persons}
